Sweden has moral duty to set up ISIS tribunal

Swedish members of the Islamic State terrorist group detained in Iraq and Syria could be tried in the region, if Sweden gets it’s way.

In the past week, Sweden’s Interior Minister Mikael Damberg has traveled to London and the Haag to shore up support for the idea of setting up an international tribunal to try IS members in the region.

Kurdish groups that are currently holding the roughly 100 Swedes who joined the terrorist organization want them to go home. But Damberg says it makes sense to try them closer to where evidence, witnesses and crime scenes are found.

So far, the UK, the Netherlands and France have signed up to attending a Swedish meeting that is planned for the beginning of June where experts will discuss how to move forward on the proposed tribunal.
