Suspected Jamat-ul-Mujahideen terrorist arrested in Kolkata
A suspected Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist was arrested from Kolkata by the Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) on Monday.
Based on specific intelligence, STF intercepted the 22-year-old JMB terrorist, identified as Mohammed Abul Kashem alias Kashem, from Kolkata’s Canal East Road area.
Kashem is a resident of Durmut village under the Mangalkote police station limits in Burdwan district, an officer said.
Police have seized several incriminating articles from his possession.
“We have seized several incriminating articles from his possession. We have grilled him and got more information about the JMB and other members who are currently working for the terror outfit. A specific case under relevant sections is being registered by the STF,” a senior official said.
A specific case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered by the Kolkata Police STF based on Kashem’s revelations about the Bangladeshi terror outfit and other members of the organisation in the country.
Last week, a top operative of the JMB in India, Ejaz Ahmad, who was involved in the 2018 Bodh Gaya blast, was arrested by the Kolkata STF from Bihar’s Gaya district.
The Centre in May this year declared Jamaat-ul- Mujahideen Bangladesh a terrorist organisation.
