Two suspected Islamic State terrorists arrested in Delhi
The Delhi Police has arrested two terrorists and recovered two .32-calibre pistols and four cell phones from Jama Masjid bus stop near Red Fort.
The duo are suspected to be a part of Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK).
The terrorists, Parvez and Jamshed, were carrying the weapons from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh and were on their way to Kashmiri Gate to board a bus to Kashmir. Parvez is currently pursuing MTech from Gajrola in Uttar Pradesh and was inspired by his brother.
Parvez’s brother was killed in an encounter in Kashmir about six months ago. After this, Parvez too became a militant. Another brother of his, Firdaus, was first part of Hizbul Mujahideen before he joined ISJK.
An officer said the duo was using Delhi as a transit point. Jamshed is a final-year diploma student. He had also facilitated Mohammed Abdullah Basith’s movement, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the officer said. This was their second trip to Delhi.
The two were working under the instructions of Omar Ibn Nazir and Adil Thokar, the officer added.
The officer said that they had no plans to carry out terror activities in the national capital and were using Delhi only as a transit point.
He said the ISJK organisation is in a nascent stage.
