Former Page 3 girl model who was suspected and feared that she was being groomed by ISIS is released without charge

A former Page 3 model who was suspected of being groomed to become a jihadi bride has been released without charge.

Kimberley Miners, who once appeared topless in The Sun, was quizzed last year under the Terrorism Act 2000 and had her home in Bradford searched.

The 28-year-old was alleged to have used Facebook to communicate with a British fighter in Syria as well as posting images of Muslim women brandishing rifles and other weapons.

Miss Miners was also accused of ‘liking’ and sharing ISIS videos on social media under the alias Aisha Lauren al-Britaniya.

She also apparently posted a picture of herself in a full face veil and joked about an online photograph of a kitten wearing a suicide vest.

Miss Miners was initially released on bail but the investigation has now been dropped.

A police spokesman said: ‘The 28-year-old woman from Bradford arrested on suspicion of the possession of terrorist material has been released from her bail without charge.’

Police feared her case had parallels to that of Sally Jones, the former punk rocker from Kent, who went to Syria to join ISIS with her nine-year-old son JoJo after striking up an online romance with jihadi Junaid Hussain, 20.

Miss Miners comes from a Christian family but she was said to be deeply affected by the death of her father, who drowned in a freak accident in 2010.

She found comfort in the company of Muslim friends and was said to have discovered peace through Islam.

She has visited Turkey – the most common springboard for Syria – twice and stayed at refugee camps close to the border.

Speaking about that, she said: ‘I remember seeing a three-year-old and a little baby at the side of the road.

‘I felt like I needed to carry on telling everyone this is what’s really going on. I just want to help them children…it’s so sad what they’re going through.’

In a previous interview Miss Miners claimed the accounts were ‘fake profiles made against me’.

She said: ‘I myself am not active on any social media and do not have contact with anyone in association with terrorism.’

She also said she disagreed with violence, adding: ‘I am a caring person and have a heart of gold.’

Asked if she supported ISIS, she said: ‘We get told that they are there to protect the religion. I don’t really know. That’s what’s got me into trouble.’

However the 28-year-old condemned ISIS’s policy of beheading prisoners and denied that she wanted to become a jihadist bride.

Miss Miners’s social media accounts were closed down following her arrest and she was directed to a counter extremism programme by police.

She has also complained about being abused in public when she wore Islamic dress.

She said: ‘I’ve gone from glamour model to something completely different.

‘But that again makes me wonder. You don’t get s*** from wearing nowt, but the second you start wearing [the veil] you get accused [of extremism] and stuff.’

Miss Miners first appeared in the national media in 2009 when she was juggling her job as a street cleaner in Bradford with a fledgling career as a topless model. She has also worked as a traffic warden.

Referring to that she said: ‘People think it’s really odd that I can be something so glamorous yet do something so dirty by day but I love it.’
