Senior ISIS terror suspect detained in western Turkey
A Syrian suspect believed to be the so-called emir of the Daesh terror group was arrested in Turkey’s western Bursa province, security sources said on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified by the initials I.T., was nabbed in an apartment building in Yildirim district of Bursa during a police raid, said the sources who asked not to be named, due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Reportedly commanding a large number of Daesh terrorists operating in the Syrian towns of Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor, sources cite numerous photos exposing the suspect within the terror group.
More than 300 people have lost their lives in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey, where the terror organization has targeted civilians in suicide bombs, rocket and gun attacks.
Turkish security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to thwart Daesh activities.
