Suicide blast kills six, wounds 13 in Afghanistan
A suicide bomber detonated explosives in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing six people and wounding 13 other Monday, police said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack in the southern area of Qala-e-Bakhtiar in the nation’s capital, according to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran.
“This afternoon, a person wearing explosives on his body detonated,” Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran posted on X in Arabic. “Unfortunately six civilians, including a woman, were killed and 13 others were injured.”
In 2021, the Taliban took over after the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces after two decades of war.
The regional chapter of Islamic State, known as Islamic State Khorasan, is active in Afghanistan.
In September 2022, ISIS attacked the Pakistani embassy in Kabul, wounding a guard inside the embassy compound. Three months later, there was an attack outside the Russian embassy in Kabul, killing two embassy staff members.
