Somali security arrests 2 Al-Shabab members
Somali security forces arrested two armed members of Al-Shabab movement linked to Al-Qaeda, in a security operation south of Mudug region, Galmudug State, in the center of the country.
According to Somali National News Agency (SONNA) the National Armed Forces, in cooperation with local forces in the state’s city of Harardhere, were able to arrest the two militants, as they were planning to plant landmines targeting local residents in the city. They were handed over to the authorities concerned with combating terrorism.
For over a decade now, the Somali forces have been waging battles against Al Shabab Movement, which has claimed several attacks that killed hundreds of civilians and security personnel, and have recaptured several areas from the movement.
