Iraqi soldier killed by ISIS terrorists in Diyala
An Iraqi soldier was killed by the jihadist group of Islamic State (IS) in Diyala province on Tuesday while the militant group has, over a year ago in Iraq and recently in Syria, been announced as fully defeated.
The Iraqi army soldier was on duty in the areas of Qara Tapa, Bahqubah, when he was shot dead by an IS sniper, a security source explained to al-IKH News.
The security forces soon conducted an operation in search for the insurgent, but the suspect had already escaped the region, according to the source.
The Islamic State was declared defeated earlier this week in Syria, while the militant group’s sleeper cells are still active in most liberated areas in Iraq.
