ISIS sniper kills Iraqi army soldier near Diyala

An Iraqi soldier was killed by an Islamic State (IS) sniper in northern Baqubah, a security source said on Wednesday.

The source told Baghdad Today that the Iraqi soldier was targeted while on his duty near a security checkpoint around the village of Abu Karma.

The security forces launched a searching campaign to find the militant group’s sniper, the source added.

The Islamic State was declared defeated last year. However, its sleeper cells have still continued to carry out terrorist activities against the national forces and civilians.
