Should Islamic State jihadi brides be welcomed back?
The UK House of Commons echoed this week with news of Britain’s very own ‘Russia Gate.’ Allegations from the opposition Labour benches claimed No.10 had paid no attention to an intelligence report of Russian interference in the country’s Brexit referendum and the subsequent election.
As Putin chuckled in the Kremlin, no one in Westminster dared bring up the case of another threat to the way of life in Britain, one epitomized by a 20-year-old ISIS bride, born in Britain of Bangladeshi parents and who had joined the Islamic State and swore to destroy the ‘kaafirs’ of her country — Britain, not Bangladesh.
Shamima Begum was a 15-year-old girl who, along with two other girls, had flown to Turkey in 2015 and then by bus entered the supposed paradise on earth, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The girls, who considered high school proms a symbol of depravity and sexual decay, would have no problem becoming child brides of European converts to Islam. Many would end up being traded as wives between fellow jihadis.
Begum’s passport and citizenship were revoked by the then Home Secretary Sajid Javed who, as a secular Muslim, would know the danger posed to Britain by fellow Muslims born in Britain but brainwashed to be a fifth column within the United Kingdom, just as the Muslim Brotherhood endeavours to do in the US and Canada.
In February last year when Begum was discovered by a reporter for The Times of London, the jihadi from London expressed no regret about her decision to serve jihadis who were killing in the name of Allah and living a demented sexual life based on medieval sharia law.
She told The Times, “When I saw my first severed head in a bin it didn’t faze me at all … It was from a captured [non-Muslim] fighter seized on the battlefield, an enemy of Islam. I thought only of what he would have done to a Muslim woman if he had the chance.”
Begum told the reporter that she wanted to come back to Britain, but had no regrets travelling to the Islamic State. “I’m not the same silly little 15-year-old schoolgirl who ran away from Bethnal Green [a London suburb] four years ago … And I don’t regret coming here [Islamic State].”
Unfortunately, an appeals court in London has recently asked the government to restore Begum’s citizenship. The UK government is appealing the decision.
Once more it was left to Sajid Javed to gather the courage, risk being labelled an Islamophobe and speak about the threat posed by Begum if she came back to Britain. Last week he tweeted: “First and most critically, allowing her – and indeed other terrorists – back into the UK to pursue an appeal would create a national security risk that cannot be fully mitigated, even with the diversion of significant resources.”
Britain is not alone in allowing ISIS brides to come back home and continue spreading hatred towards the west while living amongst us.
In October 2017, The Toronto Star reported on how Islamic State militants were luring Western women as wives. The story followed three Toronto girls of Somali heritage, between the ages of 15 and 18, who left Canada bound for Syria, as part of the growing trend of young women joining the terrorist group.
The teenage girls flew to Cairo and then on to Turkey where they were apprehended and sent back to Toronto.
We have no idea where these three jihadi women live today. They, like Begum, may not be jihadi terrorists, but there is scant evidence that they reject any aspect of Sharia that justifies the killing of non-Muslims or contributing towards the collapse of the West.
In the meantime, the MPs in Westminster belch and bellow about Russia Gate while tucking their heads between their knees as Jihad Gate raises its ugly head.
