El-Ashaal was one of the pioneers of investments businesses in the UK. El-Ashaal was one of the founders of IRW.

El-Ashaal was a senior Egyptian MB member, who studied in the UK, and passed away in 2011. El-Ashaal had a significant role in the MB financial infrastructure, especially in the UK. He was a member of the Muslim Welfare House.

Until 2000 El-Ashaal was the company secretary for a company called the Hassan el-Banna Foundation. One of the stated aims of the Foundation was “to give a correct image of the thoughts, ideology and life of Imam Shaheed Hassan el-Banna.”

In 1994, el-Ashaal headed with Ibrahim Munir the Renaissance Foundation (reg. 02945403), which dissolved after a year.

Tiseer Welfare Trust, est. 2007. Different charitable works, its net assets in 2013 was 10,000 GBP.

Jordan Company Secretaries Limited, est. 2007. Liquidity of 346,000 GBP. The company is owned by West Of England Trust Limited, est.1994 and worth 17.7 million GBP.

Finsbury Park Mosque aka The North London Central Mosque (NLCM), est. April 2010, liquidity of 180,800 GBP and worth 1.5 million GBP. In the 1990s it developed into a center for terrorism recruitment and facilitation under the leadership of the jihadist preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri, whose followers included “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and a suspected twentieth 9/11 hijacker, Zacarias Moussaoui. In early 2005, Abu Hamza was removed from the NLCM, and it was taken over by a new management committee made up of senior members of the British Muslim Brotherhood. Its five trustees – Mohamed Kozbar, Muhammad Sawalha, Ahmed Sheikh Mohamed (Treasurer, also a trustee of Europe Trust), Abdel Shaheed El-Ashaal (Chairman) and Hafez al-Karmi – were, until 2007, the registered owners of the Muslim Welfare House. HSBC has officially closed the bank account of the mosque in July 2014.
