Several Islamic State tunnels destroyed in Anbar
Several Islamic State (IS) tunnels were destroyed on Tuesday by the Iraqi security forces in the province of Anbar.
Talking to al-Maalomah news agency, a security source said that the tunnels were targeted during an operation in search for remnants of the extremist group in the province, where the forces also seized a large cache of weapons belonging to the jihadists.
The military campaign was carried out based on unreliable information, the source pointed out.
Although the militant group has been announced defeated since late 2017, the insurgent group’s sleeper cells are still active in most liberated territories.
