Seven ‘terror suspects’ apprehended
Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have foiled a major terror plot by arresting seven suspected terrorists linked to banned out-fits during separate operations in different areas of Punjab on Monday.
A spokesman for the CTD said that 248 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were conducted in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism in which 248 suspected persons were interrogated and seven alleged terrorists were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.
The arrested terrorists include Khalid, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Salman, Nadeem, Akmal, Muhammad Yasir Yasin and Musa Khan, who belongs to banned organisations Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
He said the arrest of these terrorists was carried out during intelligence-based operations in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Pakpattan, Rawalpindi and Sargodha.
He said that the 955 grams of explosives, two hand grenades, two ISD bombs, nine detonators, safety fuse wire, 23 pamphlets of banned organisations, 36 stickers and Rs8,850 in cash have been seized.
