Russian citizen sentenced to 8 years for financing the ISIS terrorist group
A court has sentenced a resident of the Republic of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulkhalikov, to 8 years in prison for financing the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization prohibited in Russia, the Investigative Committee’s press service reports Monday.
According to investigators, the man, born in 1989, sharing radical religious views, has agreed to give financial support to ISIS. Between June and October 2014, he transferred about 152,000 rubles to terrorists, who cashed the money in Turkey.
Abdulkhalikov has been charged with facilitating a terrorist activity.
The Islamic State, an organization which is prohibited in Russia, is currently one of the major threats to global security. Over three years, these terrorists have managed to seize large areas of Iraq and Syria. Currently, various forces combat the organization in both countries.
