Security Forces Discover ISIS Weaponry, Mine-making Center in Northern Afghanistan
The Taliban security forces in Afghanistan’s Northern Province discovered an Islamic State weapons cache and a mine-making centre on Sunday.
According to the provincial police chief of Jawzjan province, the Afghan security forces found massive weapons depot and mine-making facility of Deash or ISIS in Sakhi Abad of Shiberghan, the capital of Afghanistan’s northern Jawzjan province.
The discovered ammunitions and arms, including a suicide vest, hand grenades and objects used in making mines and explosive devices, Shah Mohammad Ahmadi said, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Similar operations were conducted by the Afghan security forces in the eastern Kunar province, where they found and confiscated 17 AK-47 assault rifles and other weapons and ammunition.
Nonetheless, the police head claimed that the Daesh militants planned to launch disruptive activities, but their plot had been prevented.
Recently, the Islamic State intensified its attacks on Taliban officials and people in various provinces of Afghanistan, including Kabul and Balkh provinces.
However, the Taliban security forces have eliminated several Deash hideouts in the country, including Kabul, Kunar, Herat and Balkh provinces, killed several militants and seized heavy ammunition and weaponry, according to government officials.
