Schoolboy plotted ISIS terrorist attack to coincide with a gig by the popular singer Justin Bieber
A schoolboy plotted an Islamic State terror attack to coincide with a gig by Justin Bieber, a court heard.
Police who went to the 17-year-old’s home hours before he planned to act found a knife and a claw hammer along with a martyrdom note, jurors were told.
He allegedly called himself a “soldier of the Islamic State”, writing that the attack on Welsh capital Cardiff would be deadly and “may the blood flow like rivers”.
It was said the teen had an Instagram account named after Islamic State with the password referencing truck attacks.
He posted a message on the site which read: “Cardiff, are you ready for our terror”, Birmingham crown court was told. The boy was arrested at his parents’ home in the Welsh countryside in June. Searches on his laptop included “driving a lorry into a crowd” and “Justin Bieber Cardiff security”, it was claimed.
In his martyrdom note he allegedly wrote: “I have attacked Cardiff because your government keep on bombing Islamic State targets in Syria and Iraq.
“In the name of Allah, may terrorism greet your country.” The boy, whose parents were in court, was arrested on the morning of the Bieber concert held at the 74,000-seat Principality Stadium.
He denies preparing acts of terror, encouraging terrorism and possessing terrorist material. The trial continues.
