Russian woman sentenced to eleven years behind bars for joining the Islamic State terrorist group
The South District Military Court has sentenced Russian national Darya Bolgova to 11 years in penal colony for abetting terrorism and participating in a terrorist organization, the court’s press service has told RAPSI.
According to investigators, in 2013, Bolgova left for Turkey, illegally crossed its border with Syria and then joined the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia. She served as interpreter there.
Moreover, she induced another person to join the terrorist organization through the Internet, the case papers read.
The woman was deported from Turkey and arrested in Russia last July.
