Russian FSB security forces foiled terrorist attack in the Jabarovsk region
The Federal Security Service (FSB) today aborted an attempted terrorist attack in a zone of mass concentration of public in the eastern Russian region of Jabarovsk, said the press service of that institution.
Security forces detained a 32-year-old citizen, from one of the ex-Soviet Central Asian republics, who was preparing to use devices with flammable substances in areas of high public flow, the FSB said.
In the detainee’s home, members of the aforementioned institution requisitioned bottles with flammable liquid ready for use, bladed weapons and a flag of an international terrorist organization.
In addition, video tapes of the moment of the attacker’s initiation in an extremist group and the e-mail exchange of details of how the attack would be perpetrated were found on the prisoner’s cellphone.
According to the FSB, the aggressor, who was acting on orders received from the head of a terrorist group from abroad, planned to leave this country after the attack, to join a violent group in a Levantine nation.
On the 7th, the FSB arrested a 33-year-old Russian citizen, suspected of preparing an armed attack on an administrative building in Astrakhan province.
Russian security seized a signaling pistol, turned into a firearm with real projectiles, ammunition, two grenades and extremist literature from terrorist organizations banned here such as the Islamic State (IS), in the detainee’s home.
The detainee, who was on the IS list, hoped to travel to Syria to participate in combats waged by members of that terrorist formation there, after carrying out the attack in Astrakhan.
Russian security also arrested on July 3rd, five members of the terrorist group At-Takfir Val-Jidzhra, accused of spreading Islamic extremist propaganda in this country.
According to the FSB, the prisoners possessed firearms and information material of extremist ideas, including the document ‘The future belongs to Islam.’
