Russian FSB detained three teens in Dagestan on suspicion of establishing terrorist cell
Three out of six young men suspected of establishing a terrorist cell in Russia’s Dagestan have been put in custody, a source in the republic’s law enforcement informed TASS.
On February 3, the republic’s directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee informed that criminal proceedings had been launched against six teenagers for establishing a terrorist cell and taking part in its activity.
“Due to the fact that three out of six detained teenagers are under 16, only three guys who are older than 17 have been put in custody,” the source informed.
There has been no official confirmation of this information from Dagestan’s law enforcement and investigative bodies.
The republic’s directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee informed earlier that the suspects supported ideas of the Islamic State terrorist organization (IS, outlawed in Russia) and established a stable terrorist cell in June 2019. They later took part in the activity of the cell, appointing one of them as the leader.
