Roadside bomb kills three Iraqi security personnel

A roadside bomb explosion in Salahuddin Province, northern Iraq, has killed three members of the Iraqi security forces and injured three others.

The attack targeted a joint patrol vehicle of the Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces in the Tuz Khurmatu area, a region known for its oil-rich fields and ongoing security challenges.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, but such incidents are frequently linked to remnants of terrorist group Daesh and other militant factions that remain active in the region.

Local officials reported that among the casualties was a senior officer from the Peshmerga forces. The area, contested between the Iraqi central government and the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government, often sees violent incidents attributed to the security vacuum left after the defeat of Daesh.

The Iraqi Ministry of Defense has expressed its condolences, highlighting the ongoing efforts to stabilize these disputed territories and curb insurgent activities.
