Roadside Bomb Claims Lives Of Six Telecom Workers In Somalia’s capital

A tragic roadside explosion claimed the lives of six employees of Hormuud Telecom on the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, the company confirmed on Sunday.

According to a statement released by Hormuud Telecom, the deadly incident occurred in the Garasbaley district, where the employees fell victim to what the company described as a “roadside bomb attack.”

As of now, no individual or group has come forward to claim responsibility for the attack. However, the al Qaeda-linked militant organization al Shabaab has been known to carry out similar bombing incidents in the region.

Al Shabaab, active in Somalia for nearly two decades, has consistently waged an insurgency, targeting both civilian and military establishments. The group’s objective is to overthrow the federal government and impose its own governance system, which adheres to a strict interpretation of Sharia law.
