Rise in Islamic State attacks in Iraq with US withdrawal

Iraq’s armed forces have launched a new campaign against terrorists from the Islamic State, after the group dramatically increased its attacks.

The Islamic State has been waging a low-level insurgency since losing control of its territorial “Caliphate” last year.

But now it seems to be taking advantage of the coronavirus pandemic and the recent withdrawal of US troops.
