ISIS religious leader killed in Iraqi army forces operation in Kirkuk
ISIS’s mufti (religious leader) in Kirkuk province has been killed in a mop-up operation of the Iraqi volunteer forces of Hashd al-Shaabi, Spokesman for the Hashd Ali al-Hosseini said on Wednesday.
Al-Hosseini said that Abdulqader al-Ezi, the ISIL’s Mufti in Kirkuk province, together with three of his aides were killed in Hashd al-Shaabi’s operation to restore more security to the Southern part of Kirkuk province.
He further said that Hashd al-Shaabi and other Iraqi forces continued their operation to hunt the remaining pockets of ISIL in Huweija and its countryside.
A high-ranking commander of the Iraqi pro-government Popular Mobilization Units, commonly known by the Arabic word Hashd al-Shaabi, announced on Tuesday that the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group executed some of its members in Iraq’s Northern Salahuddin province after they refused to carry out separate bomb attacks.
Jabbar al-Mamouri told Arabic-language al-Sumariyah television network on Monday that Daesh militants had recently killed a number of their comrades in Mutabijiya districts after the latter fiercely resisted to take the order.
Mamouri added that Daesh has recently been punishing its members for disobeying orders to launch bombings.
Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has declared the end of military operations against the ISIL group in the Arab country.
ISIL began a terror campaign in Iraq in 2014, overrunning vast swathes in lightning attacks. Iraqi forces then launched operations to eliminate ISIL and retake lost territory.
