Police arrested Nigerien spiritualist praying for terrorists and supplying charms
A 50-year-old Nigerien who police described as a spiritualist for terrorists, Abdullahi Bello, was on Monday, paraded along with four suspected terrorists who allegedly kidnapped one Ammar Abdulkadir from his house in Katsina State.
The suspected terrorists paraded along with the spiritualist at the headquarters of the state police command were Yusuf Usman, 27; Kabir Bello, 20; Sani Musa, 31; and Salisu Yau, 37.
The police said the four suspects, along with three other notorious terrorists hibernating inside Dumburum Forest in Zamfara State, who are now at large, had on January 12, attacked the victim’s residence at Sabon–Gida Quarters, Katsina, where they kidnapped him and took him to a forest.
The victim was later rescued on January 28, while police investigation led to the arrest of the four suspects and the spiritualist.
The command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah, said, “On January 12, 2022, at about 2330hrs, bandits numbering seven, armed with sophisticated weapons, attacked the residence of one Ammar Abdulkadir, 27, of Sabon Gida Quarters, Katsina and took him into the forest.
“Later, the victim was rescued unhurt. Subsequently, on January 28, 2022, a team of detectives led by O/C Anti-Kidnapping, CSP Alphouse Andrew, carried out investigation which led to the arrest of the masterminds of the kidnapping and other similar kidnappings and cattle rustling that happened within the metropolitan area.”
Isah also revealed that the spiritualist, who is a native of Kandamau village in Niger Republic, always pray and prepare charms for the suspected bandits.
