PM Barzani: Peshmerga will continue battle against the terrorists

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani has reiterated Peshmerga forces’ commitment to the war against the Islamic State (IS), saying that the military cooperation with the US-led Coalition in this matter would continue.

Barzani made the remarks during a meeting with outgoing Commanding General of the US-led coalition Lieutenant General Paul E. Funk and his accompanying delegation in Erbil.

The Kurdish premier said his government would maintain coordination with General Funk’s successor to enhance the efforts aiming at eliminating IS.

Reviewing the latest political and security developments in the region, including efforts to form the new government in Baghdad, as well as preparations for Kurdistan’s parliamentary election, were also on the agenda.
