Kuwait: Parliament to propose a law to create special entity to fight terrorism and extremism

Kuwaiti parliamentary sources revealed that “several members of Parliament will submit a proposal for a law to create a special entity to fight terrorism and extremism, which will be separate from the State Security Agency.
This draft law comes in response tothe spread of terrorist acts at the regional and international levels, whichrequires strengthening the internal front and prosecuting terrorists and those who adoptextremist ideology.

“The sources added that “the new agency will enjoy legal status and will be directly overseen by the Deputy Prime Minister in his capacity as Interior Minister. The major goals of the (proposed) agency will be to crack down on extremists, monitor terrorist operations, and trace terrorists’ funding sources in order to dry them up.”
