The fate of nearly 400 orphans whose parents were killed by ISIS remains unclear at Hassan Sham Camp
The fate of about 400 orphans, whose parents were killed by the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq, has so far remained unclear at Hassan Sham IDP camp in southwest Erbil.
According to the human rights groups, the IDP children have not been provided with efficient public services. However, the Kurdish Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) has usually delivered humanitarian aid to the civilians in the camp.
The Islamic State overran a vast area in Iraq in mid-2014, killing and displacing thousands of civilians across the country.
The extremist group mainly targeted the minority groups of Yezidis and Christians in the country, causing them to flee to the Kurdistan Region.
The region was able to host about 1.8 million IDPs and Syrian refugees when the insurgents attacked the two neighboring countries back in 2014.
