Pakistani terror outfits trying to carry out major terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir

Ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has informed that there are reports that Pakistani terror outfits are trying to carry out a major terror attack in the Union Territory.

However, he asserted that the security forces are alert and the police are working with intelligence agencies and other security forces. “I’m confident that we will thwart such designs,” ANI quoted Singh as saying.

He further stressed that anti-terrorism operations are going on in both the divisions of Jammu and Kashmir and the security forces are keeping a tight vigil to frustrate Pakistani attempts to lure youngsters into committing terror activities.

The DGP also reviewed the security situation in Kishtwar ahead of Independence Day as the district saw repeated attempts by the ultras to revive terror activities.

“In Rajouri, two terrorists were eliminated in a joint operation by the police and the Army in the Pangai area. There are reports about the presence of more terrorists in the area who have crossed over from Pakistan,” he said after the visit.

On Wednesday, the security forces carried out a massive search-and-combing operation along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district ahead of Independence Day.

The operation was carried out in the entire border belt jointly by the police, the Army, the BSF, the CRPF, the CISF and village defence committees in view of the forthcoming Independence Day and stepped-up drone activities from across the border, a police official said.
