Operation to tackle down Islamic State terrorists starts in western Iraq
The Iraqi army and the border guards, supported by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) have launched a joint operation to clear Akashat Desert towards the Iraqi-Syrian border on Monday.
“The operation was carried out after receiving information indicating the return of the activity of ISIS sleeper cells in the areas behind Akashat,” said Assistant Commander of Anbar Operations of PMF, Ahmed Nasrallah.
He added” the operation targets areas that have some security vacuums where it will be secured with the participation of the army, PMF, and the border guards.
