New Islamic State attack on regime army positions in the Syrian desert

ISIS unleashed surprise attack on regime positions in Hama desert followed by fierce clashes since the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The clashes, accompanied by intensive shelling, are concentrated nearby Al-Andarin area in the Syrian desert in the eastern countryside of Hama, amid initial reports about casualties.

On July 18, Observatory activists reported that Russian jets executed several airstrikes on ISIS positions in Al-Sukhnah desert in eastern Homs, near Deir Ezzor administrative border.

The Russian airstrikes coincided with renewed battles between regime forces and ISIS, amid reports about casualties on both sides.
