Moroccan authorities arrest radical ideologue planning terrorism attacks

In the latest development in Morocco’s ongoing security efforts to counter terrorism, elements of the National Criminal Police Squad, in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGTS), arrested a 19-year-old radical ideologue on Thursday.

The arrest took place as part of continued operations to address the terrorist threat facing the Kingdom.

According to preliminary information, the suspect, from Ksar Amalou in the Midelt region, had allegedly planned to execute terrorist plots that could significantly jeopardize public safety and order. This information was confirmed in a statement issued by the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) and the DGTS.

The suspect is now in custody, with a judicial investigation underway by the National Judicial Police Squad under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor specializing in terrorism cases.

The investigation aims to uncover the suspect’s extremist activities and explore any potential connections with terrorist organizations.
