More than 20 Russian airstrikes hit Islamic State hideouts in Al-Sukhna and Al-Rasafah deserts
Russian fighter jets have executed nearly 25 airstrikes on separate areas in the Syrian desert during the last 24 hours, targeting ISIS hideouts in Al-Sukhna desert in the eastern countryside of Homs near the administrative border with Deir Ezzor and Al-Rasafah desert in Al-Raqqah province. No casualties have been reported.
Accordingly, the number of airstrikes executed by Russian fighter jets on the Syrian desert since early April has risen to nearly 55.
It is worth noting that Russian fighter jets carried out only 275 airstrikes in the Syrian desert last March, amid the drop in Russian activity in Syria due to the Russian war on Ukraine.
Yesterday, SOHR activists monitored an attack by ISIS cells on a checkpoint of Iranian-backed militias on the highway between Homs and Deir Ezzor in the Syrian desert.
Violent clashes erupted near a fuel station and a checkpoint of Iranian-backed militias at the eastern entrance of Al-Sokhna city in Homs countryside, leaving two members of these militias killed and eight others injured, where they were transported to the “National Basel Al-Assad” hospital in Palmyra city.
