Man from Bristol charged with five terrorism offences

A 33-year-old man has been charged with terrorism offences after he was arrested in the Clifton area of Bristol. Sohaib Embarek, of no fixed abode, was detained by Counter Terrorism Police at around 11pm on Monday 9 December.

Embarek has been charged with five counts of possessing material likely to be of use to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act (2000).

He was remanded and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (December 17).
