Man charged over suspected knife attack in Bradford

A man has been charged following a bloody rampage in Bradford which put five men in hospital.

Rohann Akhtar, 20, of New Hey Road, Bradford, has been charged with two counts of wounding and violent disorder.

He is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates court tomorrow.

The charge comes following a disturbance in Westgate in the city at around 3.30am.

Earlier today West Yorkshire Police said initial enquiries indicate there was a fight in the Village nightclub in Sackville Street, which continued outside and moved to Westgate.

Five men were soon arrested. Four have now been released under investigation.

Yesterday Det Sgt Tom Levitt, of Bradford District CID, said: “We have spoken to a number of people already.

“However we believe that there may be further witnesses, including some who have captured video footage of this incident on their mobile phones.

“I would urge anyone who has seen any part of this incident, both in the nightclub and outside on the street, to please make contact.”

Earlier, shocking mobile footage was shared on social media which appears to show a man slashing at people in the street.
