Man arrested in Brussels over suspected terrorist links
A man from the Brussels municipality of Ganshoren has been placed under arrest by police over suspicions he participated in the activities of a terrorist organisation, the federal prosecutor’s office confirmed Thursday.
A spokesperson for the federal prosecutor’s office, Eric Van der Spyt, said police had arrested an invididual, Sami K., on July 9 in Ganshoren, according to Bruzz.
Authorities identified the arrestee after he reportedly spread a series of jihadist messages through social media over the past months, in particular via the messaging app Telegram.
He is further suspected of having translated a document for the Islamic State terror group, a document which he did not publish, according to reports.
The suspect has never travelled to a war zone, according to local media.
