Malaysian zookeeper jailed for supporting ISIS terrorist group
A zookeeper has been sentenced to a total of 13 years in jail for supporting the Islamic State (IS) militant group and possessing terrorism-related items.
High Court Justice Mohd Sofian Abd Razak sentenced Mohd Sharullizam Ramli to 10 years’ jail for supporting the terror group and another three years for possessing terrorism-related items.
Mohd Sharullizam, 31, pleaded guilty to the charges on Tuesday.
Justice Mohd Sofian ordered the two sentences to run concurrently from July 19, last year, the day the accused was detained.
Mohd Shahrullizam was charged with providing support to the group via the Telegram application on his handphone.
He was also charged with possessing a car sticker, a headband and a flag with the IS logo.
