Libyan security forces arrest Islamic State terrorists in Tripoli
Libya’s interior ministry said a group of Islamic State (ISIL or ISIS) members have been arrested near the country’s capital of Tripoli.
The ministry said in a statement that the terrorist elements were detained in the town of al-Zawiya, some 45 km west of Tripoli, Anadolu Agency reported.
They had entered the country to undermine security and foment chaos, the statement added.
On Sunday, officials in the city of Misrata, situated 187 km to the east of Tripoli said they had arrested a member of Daesh named Omar Dabous.
Libya has been torn by a civil war since the ouster of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
