ISIS car bombs kill at least nine police officers in west of Mosul
At least nine security officials were killed and three others injured Saturday in Islamic State bomb attacks in west of Mosul, police told Anadolu Agency.
Iraqi security official Safa al-Behadli told Anadolu Agency that IS detonated four bomb-laden vehicles at a location where the police forces were stationed in Mosul’s west side.
He said that two military vehicles were also destroyed in the attacks.
In October, the Iraqi army – backed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and local allies on the ground – began a wide-ranging operation to retake Mosul, Islast bastion in northern Iraq, which the militant group overran in 2014.
