The VIOZ constituted almost 30 member organizations that care for a total of 40 mosques in the canton of Zurich.
The organization was established by Ismail Amin (retired in 2006), an Egyptian with Swiss nationality who now serves as its honorary president and Mahmoud el-Guindi, who is also Swiss and serves as its president.
