Kurdish Peshmerga repel Islamic State terror attack near Prde

Peshmerga forces repelled an attack by Islamic State (ISIS) militants overnight, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs said early on Thursday (November 4).

The attack took place at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the ministry said in a tweet.

Peshmerga from the 2nd regiment of the 10th Infantry Brigade fired on the militants and no Peshmerga were hurt in the incident, which took place near Prde between Erbil and Kirkuk.

“Again [ISIS] used the gap between the KRG and the Iraqi army to attack [the] Peshmerga,” the ministry added, referring to the security vacuum in the disputed areas that is exploited by the militants to launch attacks on both civilian and military targets.

On October 30, two Peshmerga were killed in an ISIS attack in the same area.
