Two Kurdish Yezidi children freed from ISIS captivity

Kurdish Yezidi brother and Sister have been liberated from the grip of Islamic State (IS) after over three years in captivity, confirmed an Iraqi official.

The siblings have gone through a DNA test to confirm their identity, stated Sakina Mohammed, head of Nineveh provincial committee for abductees.

She identified the two as Dlovan and Jihan, whom were given alternative names by IS jihadists, “Ayoub and Maryam”.

Dlovan and Jihan are now reunited with their families after up to three years.

IS jihadists abducted over 6,000 Yezidis back in August 2014 when they overrun the Yezidi populated Sinjar and its surrounding areas in northern Iraq.

Over 3,000 abductees have so far been freed from the extremist group, but thousands’s fate remains unknown up to the moment.
