ISIS kingpins captured on camera meeting in Syrian caffetteria

In this Northern Syrian café, the couches are weary looking and the coffee table is messy. Phone charger cables run sloppily over the furniture.

The men – ISIS operatives – sitting at the café are dressed in worn clothing, discussing their next attack. It’s a scene that’s far from attractive.

It was filmed in 2014 by a Syrian who successfully infiltrated the group. The video was then smuggled out of Syria and published by UK newspaper the Telegraph.

The man hid the camera in his jacket, knowing that if he were caught he would certainly be killed. His video marks the first time these dangerous men have been filmed together on camera.

Among those gathered is Mohammed Emwazi, a killer nicknamed “Jihadi John”. He sits casually on the couch with a green beanie, looking bored. This is a man who was involved in at least seven beheadings before he killed by drone strike in 2015.

Sitting next to Emwazi is Reyaad Khan. Originally from Cardiff, Khan was one of ISIS’s major propagandists before also being killed by a drone.

To Emwazi’s left sits Junaid Hussain, a computer hacker who had previously been jailed in England for stealing Tony Blair’s emails. He was killed aged 21 shortly after arriving in Syria.
