Key Islamic State terrorist arrested in Nangarhar
A notorious Daesh or Islamic State (IS) member who planned to attack US ambassador in Kabul and high ranking Afghan officials has been arrested in eastern Nangarhar province.
A Statement of 02 Unit of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said that they captured the insurgent named Abdul Wahed along with three other rebels during a raid in Kama district of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday night.
“Security personnel also recovered a pistol, a Kalashnikov and a shotgun and destroyed them,” the statement added.
Abdul Wahed planned to target the US ambassador in Kabul and high ranking government officials, the source said.
Elsewhere, two Daesh landmine planters were killed and two others captured in eastern Kunar province.
NDS statement said they conducted a raid in Pusht Gulab Parai area of Sarkano district of Kunar province on Monday night.
During the raid, Zahirullah AKA Safiullah Kochi, a Daesh group bomb planter and another insurgent Mohammad Iqbal were killed while trying to escape and two others who had links with the group arrested, the source added.
Two Kalashnikovs belonged to the slain insurgents were also destroyed, the source said.
Daesh did not comment about these incidents so far.
