About 400 citizens of Kazakhstan were recruited by ISIS terrorist group

Approximately 400 young people in Kazakhstan have been recruited by ISIS, said Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan.

“We are working with all the world, with the European Union for terrorism combat. We faced terror acts as well, about 400 of our young people have been recruited by the Islamic state, but now after defeat of the ISIS they are coming back, naturally, I am talking about open borders from the economics point of view. So that economic cooperation was not frustrated by different barriers,” he said at the third session of Astana club.

“In such conditions, each state defends itself from terrorism. Now the United States and other states are creating barriers for these states, I think it is clear in today’s situation, understandable. Thus, today we cannot raise the question about comprehensive removal of all the barriers,” he said.

According to the President, the world needs universal combat with terrorism. “None of the states can guarantee that a terror act will not happen there. They happen in the developed and emerging states- everywhere. We need to cooperate,” he said.
