Jubbaland praises Puntland’s efforts in anti-ISIS military operations
The Jubbaland regional state administration has commended the ongoing military operations against ISIS militants in Puntland’s Bari region, hailing it as a significant step in Somalia’s fight against terrorism.
In a statement from the Jubbaland Presidential Palace, President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) emphasized the importance of a unified approach to combating terrorism to enable Somalia’s recovery and reconstruction.
President Ahmed Madobe congratulated Puntland’s administration and security forces on their successes in dismantling ISIS infrastructure, noting the operation’s significance for both Puntland and the Somali nation. “This operation is crucial for the safety and security of the Somali people,” he said.
He also called on the Somali people and the international community to support Puntland in ensuring the operation’s success against ISIS.
Puntland security forces reported significant progress in their campaign, claiming to have killed several Daesh fighters and seized eight terrorist outposts during Monday’s operations in the Al-Miskat mountains of the Bari region.
Daesh has a relatively small presence in Somalia compared to the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabab, but experts have warned of growing activity.
