ISIS issues warning to jihadis against cutting hair braids with threat of 20-lashes & jail
ISIS has issued bizarre instructions to fighters not to cut their hair braids and threatened to whip and imprison any militants who violate the order.
A local source from Kirkuk said that ISIS made the instructions through its media arm in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, in Iraq warning against “cutting hair braids under any circumstance”.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source told AlSumaria news on Monday: “The ordered that the hair braids are a condition for new volunteers.
“They ordered twenty lashes and one-week imprisonment for whoever violates the order.
“ISIS considers the outfits and hair styles of militants as evidence of sticking to the group’s principles.”
Hawija and other neighbouring regions have been held by ISIS since mid-2014 when they proclaimed an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria.
For three years, ISIS had an army, administration and territory which made it more powerful than many members of the UN.
After the fall of Mosul, the group is close to defeated and its power is waning.
On Sunday the group imposed a curfew in the region after militants seized flyers calling them “pigs” and urging them to leave the town.
This isn’t the first bizarre act by the terror group, in 2016 ISIS staged an Olympic games for children.
Youngsters, some aged just five, played musical chairs and tug-of-war, with winners reportedly taking home bags of sweets.
Local sources opposed to the faltering regime claim the event was a desperate attempt to maintain a facade of normality in ISIS’ diminishing heartlands despite crushing defeats at the hands of Western forces.
