General Info:
Jasminka Ramic is a Chicago-area Bosnian immigrant who has been charged with providing material support to the Islamic State terrorist group.
Ramic moved to the US in 2000, became an American citizen in 2006, but moved to Germany, in 2014, to live with relatives who had settled there, after filing bankruptcy in the United States.
For less than a month in 2012, Ramic reportedly worked as a substitute nutrition services worker in the U.S. public school system.
Terror Activities:
American intelligence officials described Ramic and five other Bosnian immigrants (Ramiz Zijad Hodzic, Sedina Unkic Hodzic, Medy Salkicevic, Armin Harcevic, and Nihad Rosic) as being followers of Abdullah Ramo Pazara, another Bosnian-American who travelled to Syria and volunteered to fight on behalf of the Islamic State.
Working through a St. Louis-based intermediary (and fellow Bosnian immigrant), Ramic funneled $700 to presumed Islamic State facilitators in Turkey. She tried to recruit others to contribute financially to Islamic State terrorists in Syria and Iraq.
On February 10, 2015, Ramic was arrested in Germany and transferred to U.S. custody. Ramic faces up to three decades in prison. Ramic pled guilty to federal conspiracy charges of providing aid to terrorist groups on September 28, 2015.
