Italy : Moroccan arrested for Daesh membership and terrorist plans in Naples

A Moroccan national was arrested on Wednesday morning in the province of Naples, accused of being part of a local terrorist cell linked to the Daech group.

This arrest is the result of a comprehensive investigation coordinated by the city’s public prosecutor’s office, which has been ongoing since last summer.

The investigation focuses on «association with a view to terrorism, including international terrorism, subversion of the democratic order», according to Italian media reports.

The probe meticulously tracked the movements and activities of the suspect, uncovering links to the promotion and online dissemination of Daech-related materials, including training content.

Evidence gathered during the investigation revealed that the individual, in his thirties, was particularly involved in discussions about «violent plans against the Jewish community in Naples».

Security sources further disclosed that he had expressed intentions to «acquire a knife to execute terrorist projects».
