Islamic State terrorists trying to enter Mumbai by sea – city authorities on high alert
Mumbai was put on high alert on Tuesday after the Indian Coast Guard sent a fax to the Mumbai Police about three suspected Islamic State terrorists who may try to get inside the city by sea.
CNN-News18 further reported that police are checking lodges and low-end hotels where owners usually do not ask for identity proof.
“The information is (sic) received from the Coast Guard through fax. We are taking all necessary precautions and getting details about the suspects from the information provided to us,” India Today quoted a senior Mumbai Police official as saying.
In November 2008, ten Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants killed 166 people and wounded dozens in Mumbai. Nine of the attackers were killed by police while lone survivor Ajmal Kasab was caught.
Kasab was executed after a court found him guilty and handed a death sentence.
