Three Islamic State terrorists arrested west of Mosul

Three Islamic State members have been arrested in Mosul, according to the Iraqi’s military.

A statement by the Security Media Center said on Sunday that Nineveh police troops, in collaboration with civilians, manage to arrest three Islamic State members.

Last week, the Interior Ministry announced arresting ten Islamic State dangerous members who were wanted for judiciary in the eastern and western sides of Mosul. Moreover, Iraqi security forces arrested, earlier in the week, the so-called Islamic State (IS) jailer in Sumer district in Mosul’s eastern side.

The militants were arrested as they should stand trials. They used to work in Islamic State’s so-called vigilantism and security departments, the center added. “The arrests took place in western Mosul.”

Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against security troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced, in December, full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members. The war against IS has displaced at least five million people.
